7 months later...

We're still here! Small town living hasn't scared us away….yet ;) Nick loves his job! We are amazed every day with the opportunities that this company has to offer & how much this company recognizes his talent! He is truly blessed to have this position. The boys are 1 month away from starting 3rd grade in Sidney ISD (Crazy, I KNOW!!), and I have accepted a Para (teaching) position with the school district and will start along with the boys in August. I am just a few classes away from completing my degree and will be teaching high school full time in the 2015-2016 school year.
Getting used to small town living is proving the most challenging part of this transition for all of us! We have really enjoyed the scenery here! There are SO many amazing & convenient vacations that we are planning in the coming year! Living in the MidWest is new, it's different, and for now…it's where we want to be. We're together and we're making it work.

I would certainly be fired if I were a paid journalist!

You can see from my last post (a year ago) that I am super slacking on this blogging! But, one of my "resolutions" for 2014 is to communicate better, and blogging is just the beginning :)
That said…let me catch you up on what's going on in 'MilamWorld'!

Just under a week ago, we ventured 850 miles (over 12 hours) from home, and relocated to Sidney, NE. WHY, you ask?? Well, after many long and trying years with Nick's former company, he made the decision to leave and accepted his "dream job" with Cabelas. We moved from a population of over 145,000 to just over 6,000! This is small town living at it's finest. The closest target is 1.5 hours away, malls do not exist, and living in a 900 sq. ft home, is living big. We are definitely excited about this opportunity, and looking forward to the next few years of "simple living"!
Stay tuned to see what's next! And, I promise, the next post won't be in 2015 ;)

2013...What?!?!

What's new in the Milam Family?? God has placed so many wonderful people in our lives this year. We have had some amazing family experiences! Here's the latest: 1) Nick's job. Oh-Kay...As of 2011, we were LOST on what step to take next. Nick finished his Graphic Design degree and with that, we had so much hope for him finding a new position where he could show his talent. God (and Raytheon) had a different plan. In the last 6 months, Nick was transferred to Garland and has been working with a new team of people & he has been loving it. He is still not doing exactly what he knows in his heart that he wants to do, but we know that the time will come. 2) I have recently accepted a position within our church. I am the new "Connection Manager", and am finding my place again in the world of work...after spending so many wonderful years as a full time Mommy. This job was a blessing, and I cannot wait to share more on that!! I also just returned from my first Mission Trip. I joined middle & high schoolers from McKinney, and we drove to Arizona. Life changing = yes!! But, as I am still processing it...look for more on that update later :) 3) Nick and I are still doing our Advocare business...as well as WorldVentures. (2 of the BEST choices we've ever made!) 4) Coleby & Landen just finished FIRST GRADE!! I know!! Seems absolutely crazy that my baby boys will be SECOND grader's in August. Time has flown, but I feel so blessed that I have been able to be there every step of the way. They have made so many wonderful friends at their school & if it is God's will, we hope to be in this area for along time. 5) Bella is still the same sweet, lazy dog she has always been. She's now 5 years old (or 35, however you look at dog age). Here is our most recent family photo (as always, taken by the fabulously talented Chera Nall!)

Back from New Hampshire

We had a great time! The boys didn't want to leave the ocean! It was a chilling 58 degrees in the water, but the weather was perfect! It never got warmer than mid-80's and the breeze made it beautiful. We visited every beach we could find, looked for seashells, climbed rocks, watched seagulls, visited lighthouses, and SO MUCH! I LOVE that place. It is the perfect vacation spot!!!!

It's been a busy year....

Landen

Coleby

My sweet boys <3

Seems SO long ago!!!

I can't believe the boys are almost 5!
We went out this morning and took some pictures in a field of bluebonnets that we used when the boys were not quite a year. It's amazing when I look at two, how much they have really grown!!
They are loving their school and look forward to the 3 days a week they get to spend there. Kindergarten in the fall...kindergarten round-up is coming up at the end of this month. We were excited to find out that one of the teachers at their school was just names Teacher of the Year. So, fingers crossed that this trasition is a smooth one for all of us!
Here are some pics...Hope you enjoy!!

Happy 2011!

I actually have 2 days off because of the ice storm, so for the first time since October I have a second to post!!
What's been up? Well, in a nutshell....kids, jobs, school, and life :)
Nick is one year away from Graduation! YAY!
I am SO much closer to my goal!
The boys are reading, writing and staying somewhat healthy!
Aside from some minor bumps in the road this year, (the car accident (me alone), Nick's knee surgery, and illness here and there, we had a decent 2010!
We plan on making the best of 2011 and looking forward to what our future holds!!! We couldn't be happier with our little brilliant boys and are just so thankful for all that our lives hold!
